Christoph Zumbülte <!––> and Jürgen Schulze <!––> Tilling are full of ideas. And the chairman and the cashier of the Brass Music Association (BMV) Nottuln are currently very happy. Reason: A project initiated by the BMV can be implemented. “The musical education of children, adolescents and adults in Nottuln is now only possible in a rudimentary and uncoordinated manner after the music agency was closed. We want to change that and have therefore endeavored to fund LEADER with a project concept, ”reports Zumbülte. Now there was positive news from the local action group of the LEADER region Baumberge: The project management agency BMV is receiving support for the measure estimated at 84,000 euros.
“54,600 euros come from LEADER funding. We have to raise the remaining 29,400 euros ourselves, however, ”explains cashier Schulze Tilling. In the corona year, which is coming to an end, the association’s reserves have not exactly grown. “Since all the concerts have actually been canceled, we weren’t able to bring in the fees we had hoped for,” says Christoph Zumbülte. That is why donations from citizens and support from the community are needed.
The trigger for the project was the situation of musical education in Nottuln, report the two board members. After the music agency is no longer on the market, a large gap has arisen. For example, there are only a few offers in early musical education, many musical genres cannot be learned due to a lack of music teachers or instruments. In Albachten, which is about the size of Nottuln, there are around 650 students. In the smaller Havixbeck there are even around 800. In comparison, the BMV is currently supported by 130 members. “That’s why we assume that there is still great potential in Nottuln that is slumbering,” says Schulze Tilling, who heads the association project.
The independent music teachers in Nottuln and the BMV could not offer lessons in all types of music. “We need better networking,” says Zumbülte. Therefore, with the help of the LEADER grants, not only children and “normal” instruments should be purchased, but the pool of music teachers could also be enlarged. In addition, cooperation with providers of musical education in the neighboring communities is to be concluded. “And since all of these tasks far exceed the work of a volunteer, we need a project manager at the fee level,” explains Zumbülte.
The brass music association has of course already given concrete thought to the goal of the project. With the end of the measure, the necessary set of instruments is to be acquired and the possibilities of instrumental teaching and cultural education in the leisure sector are to be expanded. Significantly more Nottulner and people from the area are enabled to participate in culture.
“After the end of the project we naturally want to continue the offers. We have more than 125 years of experience in cultural activities in Nottuln and are already organizing music lessons in Nottuln. We therefore believe that we can guarantee the sustainable development of the project results, ”says Zumbülte.
