Two of the most popular things in Brazil are A Grande Família and memes. So I’m not few creations and jokes using elements of the classic series, especially its soundtrack. But a Brazilian went further, and decided to create the show’s theme song using the nostalgic Mario Paint, from Super Nintendo.
The creator of the song appears on Twitter as Beto, under the username @jacaredasarte. But is no YouTube that Beto shows his creations in Mario Paint. For those who are not such a fan of the Grande Família, we also have another great classic of national music, the hit Dormi na Praça, by Bruno and Marrone.
Now, if you prefer international hits, you can also find Under Pressure and Everybody Wants to Rule the World, all made with musical instruments from Mario’s faces, mushrooms and other items from the Mario Paint.
O Mario Paint turned out to be a game ahead of its time. The title featured a variety of creation tools, including drawing, from which it actually got its name. But the music-making resource has found new life in today’s connected world. Creators like Beto manage to bring all kinds of music to the old SNES game, and some results are really fun.
So we asked Voxel readers. If you could choose any track from outside the gaming world to hear a version on Mario Paint, what would be your choice?
