Brännström reveals – Milosevic will be AIK’s new team captain: “He is credible”

After Sebastian Larsson quit, it has been unclear who will be AIK’s team captain. But now new coach Andreas Brännström tells us that he has made up his mind.

– It will be Alexander Milosevic, he says.

Why?

– Partly it’s probably this classic thing about the number of years you’ve been in a club. He also has a trust among the other players. He is credible and has been one of the players who has been around the regular captain a bit, in player councils and things like that. In many ways, it’s a pretty natural choice.

Why is he an AIK compatible team captain?

– He also grew up on the north side. He has understood since he was a teenager what AIK is all about. He’s been here a long time. He goes through the whole group. He understands this blue line thing. But he is also an adult who can somehow have adult conversations. He goes through the whole group somehow.

However, it is not yet clear who will be the vice team captain. Andreas Brännström wants to give his players the chance to show that they want to be.

– No, we have decided on that. But in a couple of weeks, we will have arrived at something. We are giving the players a chance now to show themselves from their best side, he says.

It is about six months ago that Alexander Milosevic played a match. In July, he suffered a concussion that was so bad he didn’t come back.

But now he is in training and Andreas Brännström is positive about the centre-back.

– He’s driving at full speed now. But he hasn’t nodded yet. But we are close. I’m a bit wary of making promises with players with head injuries, but now we’ve reached a level where he can do the maximum and still feel good. There are only nods left, he says.

Since you want him as captain, do you count on him in the team?

– Yes, a lot has really happened in the last few weeks. So I hope. Everything points up.
