In a recent interview with Rock 100.5 The Katt FM, Mastodon drummer and vocalist Brann Dailor shared details about Mastodon’s upcoming album.
“The new Mastodon is taking shape,” he revealed. “There’s a lot of new material and a lot, a lot of new stuff. There might be something new coming out very, very soon. But who knows? Who knows? I don’t know. We’ve been working on new stuff for months and we have to get back home. Between all the other festivals we’re doing, we’re doing some different little things, between those things, we have to finish working on… writing some real lyrics, that would be great. We’re always a band that leaves the lyrics at the end.”
Mastodon have already teased their upcoming album. In June of this year, Dailor posted a video on Instagram from the West End Sound recording studio, showing off his drum kit: “Ready! Looking and sounding good at West End Sound. Got to work today! Excited to do more! Eternally grateful to Tama Drums, Evans Drumheads, Vater Drumsticks and Meinl Cymbals for helping me along the way. Donny Gillies with the awesome paint job!”
When one user asked the drummer, “New Mastodon cooking?” he replied, “Something like that.”
Mastodon recently finished the Ashes Of Leviathan tour with Lamb Of God. The two bands celebrated the 20th anniversary of their albums: Mastodon’s Leviathan and Lamb Of God’s Ashes Of The Wake. Both albums were released on the same date in 2004, August 31st.
