Ajax and PSV did what is expected of them last weekend: beat the little ones. Where PSV won 2-3 at FC Volendam, Ajax won 3-1 against FC Emmen. The two teams will face each other on Sunday in Eindhoven, followed by the cup final a week later. Branie, the podcast of Het Parool and Ajax Showtime, looks ahead to next week’s top match, to the cup final and to next season.
Ajax will have to do it in Eindhoven on Sunday without the suspended Edson Álvarez. Dick Sintenie of Het Parool calls that ‘a problem’. ‘Álvarez is Ajax’s best defender and also the only header’, says Sintenie. As in recent weeks, Branie is also about John Heitinga. Should he stay or? ‘I would consider it a Van Nistelrooij-like gamble,’ says Pot. ‘And I think that Ajax should not do that at the moment.’ Ter Haar adds: ‘On the other hand: Ajax now has a German technical director. Then a trainer with the Ajax DNA might be desirable.’
