According to the plans of Health Minister Ursula Nonnemacher (Greens), the remaining corona restrictions in Brandenburg are to be abolished on March 1st.
Against the background of the early end of nationwide corona rules, the obligation to wear a mask should be lifted in homeless shelters and refugee facilities be lifted, the ministry announced on Friday.
The obligation to test for unvaccinated and employees who have not recovered in refugee facilities, psychiatric clinics and in youth welfare and retirement homes should also be eliminated.
In view of the stable corona situation, the health ministers of the federal and state governments had agreed on Tuesday to end the mask and test requirements for employees and residents in health and care facilities earlier. The protection requirements are scheduled to expire on March 1st, originally they were supposed to apply until April 7th.
CDU faction leader Jan Redmann rated Nonnemacher’s announcement positively, but would have liked it earlier. “In our view, restrictive measures must always be well justified. With the exception of visitors to doctor’s surgeries, hospitals and care facilities, they are no longer so in view of the current infection situation,” said Redmann.
“We therefore welcome the announcement by the Minister of Health – we would have taken this step earlier.” The CDU had previously advocated fewer restrictions.
For visits to medical practices, clinics and nursing homes the obligation to wear masks should remain in place according to the agreement. This would gradually end the last specifications by Easter.
Minister Nonnemacher wants to introduce the repeal of the Corona Ordinance to the cabinet next Tuesday. The mask requirement in local public transport with buses and trains ended in Berlin and Brandenburg on February 2nd. This also applied to long-distance transport.
