Indecopi reported that the registration of trademarks by women entrepreneurs had a cumulative growth of 103% between 2015 and 2023, thanks to the intense work in terms of promotion, dissemination and awareness of the benefits of trademark registration by the Directorate of Distinctive Signs (DSD), as well as the technical assistance provided through the Consulting Platform.
Specifically, in 2023, the economic items preferred by women to register their brands were: clothing with 682 registered trademarks (29.63%), food with 489 brands (21.24%), education with 469 brands (20.37%), services doctors with 341 brands (14.81%), as well as restaurants and lodgings with 321 registered brands (13.94%).
Furthermore, according to DSD figures, in 2023, 4,147 brands were granted to female entrepreneurs, which represents a growth of 1.05% compared to the previous year (4,104 brands). It should be noted that 95.01% of the registrations obtained by women in 2023 correspond to Peruvians and only 4.99% to foreigners.
Meanwhile, between 2015 and 2023, the average participation in trademark registration by women was 33.05% compared to 66.95% by men, evidencing an advance in registration by female entrepreneurs throughout the period. of the years.
