With no budget for celebrities, a cereal manufacturer decided to target people with celebrity names to place on their billboards.
Surreal, the British cereal brand, ensures that Serena Williams eats its products, Michael Jordan too, Dwayne Johnson says it is his favorite and even Ronaldo has something positive to say. However, the company’s announcements require an asterisk
to see a little more closely what they want to communicate.
No celebrity budget? People with famous names is the solution
The brand did not have the budget to hire these celebrities. For this reason, they specify in their ads that they are simply “normal” people who have been paid by the brand to participate in the campaign.
In this sense, they explain that “Dwayne Johnson” is actually a bus driver from London, “Serena Williams” is a student and “Michael Jordan” is just a “regular guy” from St Albans.
To work within the constraints of his budget, Surreal thought outside the cereal box to find ordinary people with irregular names, and paid them to review his cereal; get a nod from Dwayne but a resounding “no to me” from Serena.
Viral
“We can’t wait to be the Official Cereal of Dwayne Johnson and Serena Williams. If anyone knows Dave Beckham please get in touch,” said Surreal co-founder Kit Gammell.
Surreal added that they had not yet heard from any of the appropriate celebrities or their attorneys. However, the ads have gone viral on social networks due to their creativity.
