Brand burns car company Noord-Holland to ashes

A very large fire is raging at a car company in Hem in North Holland. Residents who live next door to the building had to leave their homes. They are taken care of elsewhere.

The first report came in just after midnight. Because fuel was available at the company, it was scaled up almost immediately. Corps from seven surrounding towns were called up.

With six fire trucks and two aerial platforms, the fire service managed to prevent the flames from spreading to a neighboring company. The fire service says it will take several hours to put out the fire.

A lot of smoke is released during the fire. Local residents were advised to close windows and doors and to switch off ventilation systems.
