Health. Inter-municipal authorities are ready to support projects.
In 2019, one in three general practitioners in France is over 60 years old. In the Lauragais Malepère trap, this aging of professionals and of the population is found and is added to another observation: 10 doctors practice in the territory for nearly 16,000 inhabitants, a number which could become insufficient soon. Moreover, if some doctors are already organizing themselves into groups to cover a larger territory, this is not the majority of cases. Concretely, the CCPLM, community of municipalities, took the initiative in September 2020 to discuss with the stakeholders concerned: health professionals in the sector, the Regional Health Agency (ARS) and the Occitanie Roussillon Federation of Health Centers (FORMS). André Viola confirms “our role is to support and encourage the creation of nursing homes or any other coordinated device carried by health professionals. The initiative must come from the health professionals themselves. To support projects which could emerge from collective work, we will implement financial, logistical and technical assistance until the coordination is completed. We will be there as facilitators “. The community of municipalities is fully mobilized to contribute to the deployment of solutions in the territory. In the Villepinte sector, the CCPLM has registered the participation in the financing of the construction of a nursing home which will soon be constituted as a primary care team (ESP). The intercommunality also closely follows the work of reflection initiated by health professionals around the municipalities of Bram, Montreal and Fanjeaux and is available to provide administrative and financial support for the work carried out. We remember, a year ago, the departmental director of the ARS, Mr. Crisnaire, came to lead a meeting in front of many professionals installed in one of the three communes, and explained that “the solution lay in the ‘coordinated and team exercise, for example within a multi-professional multi-site health center “, insisting on” this notion of teamwork “….
Finally, the intermunicipal association will consult the needs in the territory turned towards Belpech in order to also provide its support. The president insists: “the initiatives must be built as close as possible to the needs and always rest on the mobilization of the actors in the field. The project is built together. But what I know from my departmental experience is that without coordination local, teamwork, we will have difficulty attracting new doctors “. This coordination work has been going on for almost 6 months and will therefore continue.
