Late Wednesday afternoon, the association of blood donors held its general meeting.
It is by paying homage to Roger Lemoine, the recently deceased president, that the general assembly of the association of blood donors began, in the presence of the Mayor, her assistant Muriel Denuc and, unfortunately, only a few volunteers involved for years to support the friendly.
Secretary Jean-René Malka, recalled that the latter had been “reanimated” in 2015, when she was dying, for lack of volunteers to take over from the late Maurice Denat, and that as a result, the town risked losing its collections. Roger Lemoine had then gathered some volunteers from his entourage and then got very involved in mobilizing more and more volunteers during collections, in order to go up the slope in terms of the number of donors and donations. For example, a fourth collection had been added for each year. In 2022, a decline was noted with “366 donations for 214 donors, instead of 464 donations and 259 donors in 2021, which is worrying”, said Jean-René Malka, adding that this observation was general in France. Bram remains however in a good average at 20% of potential donors.
What brakes?
“The drop in volume was brutal in July 2022, when appointments were put in place as well as the obligation to justify one’s identity”, noted the officials, who saw regulars leave. “Making appointments makes collection more fluid, there is less waiting, and even if we do not refuse a donor without an appointment, this can also explain some demobilizations. Nevertheless, a rejuvenation of volunteers has been observed, which makes us optimistic for the future, provided that we retain these people“, we also heard.
After these findings, a Bureau was formed with Bernard Cesco as president, Jean-René Malka as vice-president, Clément Ducasse secretary, Clarisse Vizzotto treasurer, Daniel Beaucheron, Bernard Barons and Laurent Guichet members.
