BRAKE ISLAND: A car refused to stop for police during a check shortly after 11pm on Tuesday night.
This resulted in the police following the car, before it was stopped on Brakerøya. The car must have been stopped on Strandveien in the direction of Oslo, Drøbak and Lierstranda.
– A driver refused to stop for the police during a check. It resulted in a car chase, that’s rightoperation manager in the south-east police district, Ottar Steinstø.
The end of the car chase led to material damage to both the car and a police car. These are picked up by tow trucks. The incident did not result in any injuries.
Drammens Tidende heard from witnesses that there were many police cars at the scene and that some cars were asked to turn around at the roundabout and drive back towards the city centre.
– There is a bit of traffic control there, so to speak. But fortunately there is not so much traffic at this time of the day, he said Steinstø.
– Do you have control of the situation?
– Now we have it, Steinstø said around 11.35pm.
There were two people in the car, a man in his 30s and a woman in her 40s, they are suspected of driving under the influence of drugs. Samples are taken from the person in question. The police have found both stolen goods and drugs in the car.
