Latvian popular music supertrio Dons, Intars Busulis and “Brainstorm” this week gave the audience an inspiring anthem for the love “Forgiveness”, the number of listeners of which in the digital environment was impressive from the very first hour of its release. The song was officially announced on YouTube on March 30 at 9 a.m., but it was released a little earlier, which was noticed by about 3,500 people an hour before the official time. By noon, “Forgiveness” had gathered about 20,000 views, while the number of views per day increased to about 104,000. For comparison: the song “Chaos” (“Astro’n” won the Latvian Music Record of the Year award “Golden Microphone” in the nomination ‘out’, ‘Sudden Lights’) has garnered 125,000 views since its premiere on YouTube on 21 February last year, and the Music Bank’s winning song “Dancing Loneliness” (Intars Busulis), published on 19 February, has 732,000 views.
The idea for a joint song came to Don last February, as he drove home from the closing ceremony of the Music Bank and listened to the joint song “All For Love” by “three musketeers” Sting, Rhode Stewart and Brian Adams.

The lyrics of the song and its mood will probably make everyone want to light a lighter while listening to it, but the question is whether this was the right time to release “Forgiveness” to the people – what is seen outside the window is not spring, it can not be called joy at the moment. a moment to play a song at an outdoor event in front of thousands of listeners. Well, yes, but in that case, the song may not have its premiere even in 2022…
It is interesting that at no time has there been any questioning about the musical stylistics and thematic message of the nascent project song – everything happened instinctively, as by itself. “Thank you Arturs for the initiative,” Intars Busulis says to his colleague Don or Artūrs Šingiris. “It is a pleasure and an honor to sing in such a composition! When quoting my beloved girl, both the song and the fact that we have all met in a composition are strong. ” The recording was made by Dj Rudd’s studio “Full Clip” – something on the spot, something remotely – and it was produced by Kim Wennerstrom – the same one who also worked on Don’s latest studio album “Tourist”. “Forgiveness is an art we learn throughout our lives. Sometimes it seems that we have just learned, but new challenges are coming, and we have to start all over again, ”Don comments on the song’s message.
Let’s see how this song will perform on radio stations and charts, although from an arithmetic point of view, questions should not arise – this is a stable “hottest product” that Latvian pop music can currently offer. So far, “Brainstorm” has been involved in joint projects with both “Instruments” and “Musiqq”, Don has also created hits with other heavyweights in Latvian music (albeit Ozola), while Intars Busulis seems to have signed up with everyone and everyone, but in such a company they had not sung before. Strangely, the song “Forgiveness” is stylistically mostly none of the trio – it does not sound like Don or Brainstorm, but not from Busulis’ repertoire at all. No one has tried, intentionally or unhappily, to be selfishly superior to a colleague or to beat him, at the same time, everyone is assigned vocal parties in which the particular singer feels best and is also the strongest. In summary, the local superhits were born, which doesn’t really catch on the first time you listen to it.
This supertrio project is unlikely to be a continuation, although in the Morning Panorama interview, all three clapped their hands diplomatically, but Don mentioned something about good films that you can never know about, or they will have a second part. However, the audience will not get bored for a long time, because the new song “Brainstorm” and its video will be released on April 21. According to PV management manager Aija Auškāpa, this clip has been working on for almost eight months, therefore its presentation is planned with a large scope, namely, as a global premiere. It is planned to be designed specifically as an event for the Baltic States, Russia, as well as China and several other countries targeted by PV, but in this case the language could cause problems again – it is clear that “thinkers” will speak Latvian, but how to answer questions sent in “chat” in English and for a Russian-speaking audience? The solution has been found in audio translation: already when connecting to the live broadcast, you will be able to choose versions in Latvian, English or Russian and watch this premiere in such languages.
The previous PV studio album “For the Boy Who Tin Tin Drums” was released at the end of April 2018, and in the summer of the same year the group tour took place with a grand ending on the Grand Stage of Mežaparks. A similar scheme is envisaged this time as well, only the rules dictated by the pandemic and the wishes of the listeners have to be varied. Aija said that the new album was supposed to be released this spring, but it is clear that this summer will not be organized in accordance with the level of PV and the wishes of the listeners. It is currently planned to release the album this autumn (the Latvian version has already been recorded), but to go on tour in the summer of 2022.
