Today, Monday, April 26th at 8 p.m., the short-lived political series BrainDead celebrates its German premiere at Joyn Primetime. Behind the hour-long comedy thriller, which was previously described as a mixture of The Strain and The West Wing, were the creative minds of The Good Wife, Robert and Michelle King. In the US, the series from 2016 was discontinued after a 13-part first season.
Laurel (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), the daughter of a Democratic dynasty, had actually left Washington DC to do her own thing and work as a documentary filmmaker. But then she is withdrawn into the political family business when her brother needs her help. Back at the center of power, Laurel discovers that aliens have long since tampered with the brains of politicians in Congress. Amid the conspiracy, she befriends Gareth, the shrewd, hard-working legislative director of top Republican Senator Red Whetus. Her other allies are Gustav, an eccentric genius who is one of the first to notice that something is wrong in the Capitol. The team also joins medical student Rochelle, who works with Laurel and Gustav to save Washington, DC residents from their fate. However, you have to hurry to identify your enemies, stop the invasion and ultimately save the entire world.
