Brahmastra’s smash hit: National Film Day postponed to September 23, tickets priced at Rs 75

Mumbai: The Multiplex Association of India (MAI) announced on Tuesday that National Film Day will be celebrated on September 23, which was to be celebrated on September 16. This follows Brahmastra, played by Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, who has beaten Bollywood boycotts and achieved massive success.

Released in theaters on September 9, Brahmastra raised Rs 225 crore at the worldwide box office. The film raised Rs 75 crore at the global box office on its first day.

The film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy and Nagarjuna. National Cinema Day, which was previously to be celebrated on September 16, will now take place on September 23, the Multiplex Association of India said Tuesday. After Brahmastra raised Rs 225 crore at the global box office, the decision was made following requests from various interested parties.

Brahmastra is getting huge collections after Bollywood saw a series of flops from the pandemic. With that, the film also set the record for being Bollywood’s biggest debut for a non-holiday release.

Meanwhile, more than 4000 multiplexed screens across the country such as VR, Inox, Cinepolis, Carnival etc. they offered admission tickets for Rs 75 on the occasion of National Cinema Day.

The Multiplex Association of India said National Cinema Day is a celebration of the successful reopening of cinemas and thanks film lovers who made it possible. National Film Day is also an invitation for film lovers who have yet to return to cinema, the association said.
