Tom Brady has decided to end his career as an American football player. After the elimination of Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFL playoffs, it was already expected that this could have been his last season despite his ongoing contract.
Brady, 44, has won the Super Bowl seven times and is regarded as the greatest quarterback of all time. After the loss to Los Angeles Rams, the ever-ambitious Brady was already hesitant about continuing his career.
“I haven’t thought about it yet, I will only do that in the coming days,” he dodged the question that occupied almost all of sports-loving America. “Honestly guys, I’m still full from this game. I’m not looking further than five minutes ahead now.”
His decision was made public via social media, after which the NFL also extensively reflected on the farewell of the figurehead via its official channels. However, there was some confusion later in the day when the tweet was deleted from Brady’s company account and it was reported that he had not communicated anything to his club.
He has records
Brady won the Super Bowl six times with the New England Patriots, and once with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He has several records to his name, including the most touchdown passes as a quarterback and last year also the oldest winner of the most-watched sporting event in the world.
