Los Angeles – Oscar winner Brad Pitt (59, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”) is getting reinforcements for his planned racing driver film directed by Joseph Kosinski (“Top Gun: Maverick”). Tobias Menzies, who played Prince Philip in the third and fourth seasons of the Netflix series “The Crown”, will appear in the still untitled film from Apple Studios, the US industry publications “Variety” and “Hollywood Reporter” reported on Friday. Nothing was initially known about the role of the Emmy award winner.

The story revolves around a veteran racing driver (Pitt) who comes out of retirement to team up with an up-and-coming driver to take on the Formula 1 elite. Top Gun: Maverick author Ehren Kruger is providing the script. The cast also includes Irish actress Kerry Condon (40, “The Banshees of Inisherin”) and Brit Damson Idris (31, “Outside the Wire”). Filming is planned for this summer.

Pitt and Kosinski are also on board as producers, along with Jerry Bruckheimer and seven-time Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton.
