Brabant forbids carbide shooting, with the exception of a few places

Carbide shooting is not allowed in Brabant at the turn of the year, with the exception of a few municipalities where this has been a tradition for many years. The presidents of the three security regions in Brabant have announced this in a joint statement tonight.

They give the reason that the decline in the number of corona infections is not continuing. “In too many parts of Noord-Brabant, the contamination figures are still high. Together we must ensure that the burden on care is relieved. Our care employees deserve that the endless flow of patients decreases and that regular care can continue.”

Having stopped conversations

The security regions are resisting Broadcasting Brabant to enforce the ban. “You are not allowed to have the materials to shoot carbide with, it is enforced.” There are also so-called stop talks with people who sell the goods. “We enter into discussions with people who offer carbide via Marktplaats, for example.”

Shooting is still allowed in places like Altena or Bergen, because carbide shooting is a tradition there and people have more experience with it.

No national ban

Carbide shooting has grown rapidly in popularity in recent times. After the fireworks ban was announced, salesmen of milk cans and carbide saw an increase in the number of orders.

The first municipalities banned carbide shooting this week, including The Hague and Dordrecht. There will be no national ban, Minister Grapperhaus of Justice and Security agreed with the presidents of the security regions.
