Brabander is for curfew and mouth mask, but the shops must open

Confidence in the government’s approach to the corona crisis is increasingly crumbling. In June last year, 79 percent had reasonable to a lot of confidence in the approach, which has now been reduced to 58 percent. This has emerged from research by the province.

Notable things that emerge from the research:

Trust in measures
Trust in authorities such as RIVM and municipalities is declining. Confidence in healthcare remains unabated at 87 percent.

Only 7 percent have a lot of confidence in the advice and measures that apply to reduce the corona virus. Almost half have quite a bit of confidence in this (48 percent) and 12 percent have no confidence in it at all.

Almost half of the respondents are very concerned about the economy (47 percent) and how long this situation will last (45 percent). We are very concerned about other people who don’t follow the rules. 39 percent are deeply concerned, 46 percent have some concerns about it.

Support for measures
Some measures are widely supported, but others are met with incomprehension. That hairdressers and nail salons have been closed for so long is only understood by 29 percent of the respondents. The rule that only one guest per day is allowed to visit is also supported by only 30 percent. The fact that the catering industry is still down (34 percent), the retail trade is still closed (36 percent) and the gyms are closed (39 percent) is met with resistance.

These data come from the monitor into the social effects of the corona virus. Research agency Het PON & Telos, commissioned by the province, interviewed 1999 people in a representative survey. This was held for the seventh time in the week from 11 to 16 February.
