BPC has new rules that deserve attention

The ordinance was published by the Ministry of Labor and Social Insurance in the Federal Law Gazette. The changes were to go into effect on December 1, 2022. The change affects beneficiaries receiving BPC due to illness.

New BPC rules

According to the ordinance, the new BPC rules define the procedures for requesting daily allowances for owners and carers. The money helps cover the costs of medical visits to check the health status of beneficiaries when they have to leave the city in which they reside.

The cost of transport is R$ 118.43. The request for the daily rates can be made in two ways, via place or my INSS app. To access the request area, choose the option “Request Reimbursement of Travel Expenses for Social and/or Health Checks – BPC”.

As proof of the situation, the insured person must attach proof of residence for himself and for any accompanying person. As well as ID and proof of travel expenses.

Once this is done, the request for per diem is forwarded to the Benefit Management Service (SGBEN) linked to the Social Security Body (APS). The request is analyzed and, upon acceptance, the Appropriated Payment (AP) number is issued.

The beneficiary receives the money in the account. It is important to detail all information relating to additional expenses in order for the request to be approved and to receive payment of the daily rates.

The BPC is the benefit for low-income people living in poverty. To access the BPC, the family income must be a maximum of R$ 303 per person in the household. Registration in the Single Registry (CadÚnico) is required.

The aid is worth a minimum wage, which will be adjusted in 2023 on the basis of forecasts by the new government. Currently the amount paid each month is R$ 1,212.
