Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The BP-AKR Public Fuel Filling Station (SPBU) has officially stopped selling fuel oil (BBM) with an octane rating (RON) of 90. This fuel product with the name BP 90 will officially stop selling starting August 1 2023.
Executive Director of the Reforminer Institute, Komaidi Notonegoro, said that BP-AKR’s policy of eliminating RON 90 fuel products was a positive signal. Especially for Indonesia to gradually start switching to using quality fuel.
“I see it heading in that direction, meaning that the public and policy makers have started to move towards using higher quality fuel,” said Komaidi to CNBC Indonesia, Tuesday (12/9/2023).
Moreover, the government through Pertamina also has a program to control air pollution, especially that which originates from gasoline-fueled vehicles through the Blue Sky Program.
However, Komaidi also reminded that everything must proceed according to the situation and conditions. Including the purchasing power of the community as consumers or fuel users themselves.
“So maybe now the momentum is starting to move to a higher EURO or higher RON, I see that,” he said.
As is known, BP reasoned that this was done because the company is committed to providing quality fuel that can meet people’s needs.
Moreover, the company said, now public awareness of using quality fuel with a higher octane value (RON) is increasing.
BP has officially stopped selling BP 90 in the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi (Jabodetabek) and East Java areas. “BP-AKR is always committed to providing quality fuel that can meet people’s needs and support the daily mobility of motorists in Indonesia,” said BP’s official statement to CNBC Indonesia, quoted Monday (11/09/2023).
Thus, now BP-AKR gas stations only sell fuel products with a minimum of gasoline with RON 92 or BP 92. “As public awareness increases regarding the use of quality fuel with higher RON, as of August 1 2023 BP-AKR will no longer provide and selling BP 90 fuel at all BP gas stations in the Jabodetabek and East Java areas.”
