“Without us there can be no government. We are ready, we are dialogic, we put Bulgaria above everything, the only thing we want is for them to treat us with respect. We would beat them both together and separately, both with machines and with paper. And we have the self-confidence to dialogically want Bulgaria to be governed better”.
Thus, today the leader of GERB, Boyko Borisov, commented on the results of the elections and what policy the party’s executive committee is planning.
“Bulgaria can no longer remain without a government. Although we have increased our result, nothing stable can be broadcast without national agreement, and with parties that profess our ideology. And it is in support of Ukraine, in support of reducing inflation, creating conditions for business, and just a little while ago the IMF doubled its forecast for Bulgaria’s GDP,” stressed Borisov.
Borisov: Much more is achieved with patience than with stubbornness
“We are not an irresponsible party, because in the last 20 years we have always demonstrated responsibility, that’s why the people voted for us. When more, when less – these are the results. After both the IMF and the BNB, and the forecasts fall around zero for growth , which awaits Bulgaria is because of the political uncertainty. Because of the war in Ukraine, the supply chains are changing, the military actions are helping it, the reduction of our ratings by international institutions is due to the international uncertainty. So I believe that all the spells that if it cannot if a government is formed, the crisis will further worsen and the country will face irreparable consequences,” warned Borisov, whose party won the most seats – 69 – after the vote on April 2.
He added that without a government there is a risk of new early elections in Bulgaria without a state budget being adopted for the current year:
“If there is no regular government, there can be no budget”.
“The budget is not adopted because the risk for parties preparing to go to the elections in July is that they do not understand that here – an example of the Easter supplements – the one who has not contributed anything to the state budget all his life as insurance, receives benefits, and the one who has paid insurance all his life gets nothing. Everyone is preparing to go to the elections in 2-3 months, and these things are not talked about at all. What kind of example are we setting for young people with this?” asked Borisov.
“At the moment, the events in the world are so dynamic, so dangerous even for the world, starting with the exercises in Taiwan, and ending with the real war in Ukraine,” the GERB leader also pointed out.

“It is important to have a regular government in order to have a budget. Around June 10, the state will stop being able to pay if there is no state budget. We must show agreement and tolerance, no matter how much our friends attack us, the only stable government is between the two big coalitions, because essentially we have the same views in 99% of our programs. The war between our parties was so fierce that I have no words,” Borisov believes.
“Self-control between such a government would be the biggest guarantee for prevention against corruption. We promised the people to have “Hemus” and “Struma”, “We continue the change” have promised 4 more. Let’s do two each, let’s put Asen Vassilev to controls them, but let them happen so that Veliko Tarnovo, Targovishte and Varna can also use these highways,” said Borisov.
“There are other options, but there we have two very clear dividing lines regarding Ukraine and where we are in Europe, and accordingly both on the subject of RS Macedonia and on the war. Given that “Vazrazhdane” is increasing their score, they say : “We can endure until we become the first political force and have an independent government” – not that it will happen, but this is how they keep the electorate. “There is such a people” they say that in the National Assembly they will play the role of state and party control – they will control. DPS are always ready to rule, and we and the colleagues from “Continuing the Change” remain. It is easiest to want to control and someone else to work. So I expect more sense and wisdom from the political parties in the coming days Otherwise, we will go to elections without a budget,” Borissov pointed out.
“I call for whatever provocations there may be tomorrow, I hope there won’t be, to preserve the good dialogue”, the GERB leader called and added: “If there is no regular government, the IMF will continue to reduce its forecast until June – if this is a success for the parties , I think it’s a shame – that we can’t overcome our egos. Tomorrow I want you to be humble, that’s what our religion tells us. And because it coincides with the Muslim holidays, I guess the Koran also says that you need humility, be humble.”
Borisov stated that Rosen Zhelyazkov will be the nomination of GERB for the chairman of the National Assembly, and Desislava Atanasova will again be proposed for the chairman of the parliamentary group of the party.
