“Boycott” calls succeed in canceling Kevin Hart’s concert in Cairo

The company organizing the American artist Kevin Hart’s concert in Egypt surprised its fans by canceling it a few hours before its scheduled date, on Tuesday evening, in the covered hall in Cairo Stadium.

The decision comes after boycott calls spread through communication platforms over the past weeks, announcing the refusal to host Hart, since the announcement of the “stand-up comedy” concert, and boycott calls spread under the hashtags “Canceling Kevin Hart’s concert” and “Our civilization is not for theft” and others. .

The boycott calls came because of statements attributed to the American artist earlier, supporting “Afrocentric” African centralism, in which he said: “We must teach our children the true history of black Africans when they were kings in Egypt, and not just the era of slavery, which is entrenched in education in America. Do you remember the time when we were kings?” What some considered to be deliberate falsification of Egyptian history.

Logistical reasons

The company organizing the concert issued a statement saying: “It is with a heavy heart that we share with you, and due to local logistical problems, we have decided to cancel Kevin Hart’s concert.”

She explained, “The aim of the ceremony was to create the best experiences for all of our customers and to ensure that Egypt is placed on the international map with the highest possible standards.”

She indicated that everyone who obtained the tickets earlier has the opportunity to retrieve their value.

Ticket prices ranged from 40 to 65 dollars.

And she continued, “You have always shown us continuous support in all our events.”

Al-Sharq learned that the main reason behind the cancellation of the concert was the state of congestion among a large segment of the audience towards Hart, which forced the organizing company to cancel the concert despite obtaining a residence permit from the Syndicate of Musical Professions a few days ago.

The head of the work committee in the union, Mansour Hindi, told Al-Sharq, “The organizing company obtained a permit to hold the party 10 days ago, and paid the fees, amounting to about $9,000.”

He added, “The syndicate has nothing to do with canceling the concert, and I think it is related to security reasons,” pointing out that the organizing company can recover the value of the fees.

The concert scheduled for Cairo was part of Hart’s artistic tour in the Middle East, where he will perform a concert in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, on Wednesday, and in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on Saturday, according to what was announced on Facebook.
