The boy who killed 15-year-old Megan from Breda has been convicted of murder on appeal. The court in Den Bosch believes that there was a preconceived plan, as it turned out on Wednesday morning. The court previously convicted the boy of manslaughter. The sentence remains the same: the maximum sentence of two years in juvenile detention and juvenile detention.
The boy is Megan’s ex-boyfriend. He was in her class. On the first day of school, August 19, 2019, he stabbed Megan to death in the kitchen of her mother’s house. Megan had 35 stab wounds.
At the end of January, the court in Breda already sentenced him to two years of juvenile detention and youth detention for manslaughter. The boy appealed. The court now speaks of murder, because there was a preconceived plan.
‘ Unbelievable’
The court finds that the boy did not act on a whim, but that he was able to think about it. For example, notes and notes were found in the boy’s phone.
The boy previously claimed that he acted in self-defense and that Megan stabbed him first with a knife. The court finds that unbelievable.
Closed doors
The lawsuit was previously played behind closed doors because the perpetrator was a minor when he killed Megan. He was 16 years old and therefore juvenile law applies. He is also less accountable.
