This Sunday, Quaden Bayles lived “the best day ever” when he went on the field hand in hand with the captain of the Indigenous All-Stars after moving the world, in a video crying for being a victim of “bullying”.
Nine-year-old Quaden Bayles moved the world after the mother released a video in which the child appeared to cry and asked to die, for being the target of “bullying” at school. “I want to die right now. Give me a knife, I want to kill myself,” says the child in tears.
The Australian, born in Queensland, was born with Achondroplasia, a type of dwarfism and, according to his mother, suffers from constant “bullying” because of the disease. “This is what bullying does. I hope schools do a better job of educating other children about disabilities,” says Yarraka Bayles while filming the moment.
The video added millions of views and shares, generating a wave of solidarity. American comedian Brad Williams created the “GoFundMe” page to take the boy to Disneyland – over $ 450,000 has already been added – and celebrities like basketball player Enes Kanter and Australian actor Hugh Jackman have spoken on the networks and made sure to leave a message of support.
This Sunday, Quaden Bayles lived, according to his mother, “the best day ever”. Indigenous All-Stars, the Australian rugby team, invited him to take the field with the team and watch the duel with the Maori Kiwis All-Stars. With headphones to protect himself from noise and a ball in his hand, he went hand in hand with the captain. “We are here to protect you,” said Latrell Mitchel. Moment that received applause from the benches and made the child smile.
“The invitation was like going from the worst day of his life to the best. We never dreamed that the case would go around the world and create such an impact in the media. A father’s worst nightmare is losing his children and that is my reality every day. It’s what I have to prepare for, for the worst. Suicide attempts are very real and people don’t understand it. There are too many people suffering in silence and I address these families who have already lost their children to bullying. It’s too much and it’s something that has to be dealt with, it’s an international crisis and it requires urgent attention “, said the mother.
