Boy (7) found safe after search operation

At 23.45 the police report that the boy has recovered.

– The boy is in good condition, a little cold, and is being looked after by rescue teams, the police write in a press release.

The seven-year-old boy was reported missing at 7.43pm on Monday evening.

– At this point, the boy had been missing for 40 minutes. The boy has gotten away from his mother and aunt, the police said in a press release on Monday evening, approximately four and a half hours after the boy disappeared.

The seven-year-old was missing from the Raudsandhaugtjønna area near Umbukta.

– It is a mountainous area in the direction of the Swedish border at the E12, says chief of staff in the Nordland police district, Bent Are Eilertsen.

The boy was on a walk with his family when he got away from them.

– It is a mountainous area. We have set up an incredible amount of resources in the hope of finding him in a short time, says Eilertsen.

The police engaged search teams from the Red Cross, Norwegian People’s Aid, Norwegian Rescue Dogs, the Civil Defense, Fire Resources and the Home Guard in the search for the boy.

In addition, a helicopter search was launched with an air ambulance and a rescue helicopter, and the police had their own resources and dogs on site.
