Boxing will be even more brutal. The deer is finally fighting for the Mohammed Ali trophy in a modern studio

World Boxing Super Series (WBSS) finals were supposed to take place in Riga on March 21, however, it will not be possible to watch another impressive boxing show in the capital of Latvia. The Covid-19 pandemic has changed world sports, so the WBSS final fight between Latvians Mairi Briedi and the Cubans of Junier Dorticos will unfold without spectators in the television studio. It will be a completely different boxing experience for both athletes and spectators.

The boxer’s contract with the WBSS includes a clause that the organizers must announce the date of the fight two months before the fight itself. Once again, everything was done on time, even though the public announcement was only in September.

The deer had already completed the full cycle of the training camp before the fight, which was scheduled for March, and at that time, after the fight was postponed, his representative did not hide the fact that it had cost tens of thousands. The Latvian boxer had to keep himself toned throughout the pandemic so that he could be ready to fight at any time.

“Normally, Mairis had a full training camp cycle of two months, which is a very optimal time to fully prepare for the fight. Because he kept fit all the time before, it was easy for him to jump into the preparation phase,” Zeps explained. “On the other hand, there was a lot of time to work tactically in the fight against Dorticus.”

Latvian coach Dmitrijs Šiholajs has also thought about preparing Briedi for unusual conditions. “The coaching corps has thought about it. The training process has tried to simulate a scenario where boxing takes place in relative silence. Spectators can change games, give emotions. The fan drives forward and gives extra energy. The fans change the sport,” Zeps said.

Life in Munich will be sterile
