Manager Ivaylo Gotsev announced that our boxer Kubrat Pulev is in excellent shape before the match with German Mahmud Char and is ready to become the first Bulgarian world champion in professional boxing.
Pulev and Char will fight on December 7 in “Arena 8888 Sofia” for the regular world title in the heavyweight category of the World Boxing Association (WBA).
“At the end of the year, we really have a very big show ahead of us. Kubrat Pulev is going for the world title for the third time. At the moment he is preparing and looks in great shape both mentally and physically. He is ready for December 7 and we are expecting the first Bulgarian champion , at that in a heavy category, to happen,” said Gotsev for BTA, who was one of the spectators at the finals of the European boxing championship for men and women under 23 in Sofia.
Gotsev added that almost the entire preliminary program before the meeting between Pulev and Char is already ready and it will be announced at a special press conference soon.
“At the moment we are still preparing the program for the match, but I can guarantee that there will be many surprises and very strong matches with international participation. We will also add Bulgarian participation. It will be a spectacle at the end of a difficult year for the whole world. We want to bring hope and give strength to the Bulgarian spirit. There have been achievements in sport recently and we will continue at this pace. We have signed contracts with the participants, but the entire program of the gala evening will be announced at a press conference, at which we will tell more details.” he too.
Gotsev also commented on what he saw in the ring in the “Sofia” hall. In the finals on Sunday, the Bulgarian boxers took one title through Radoslav Rosenov up to 60 kilograms and one silver medal through William Cholov up to 75 kilograms.
“There were interesting matches. It can be seen that there is much to expect from the Bulgarian boxers – one gold and one silver medal. William Cholov is a young boxer and needs more experience, but he has potential. Boxing in Bulgaria has a future,” he said the manager.
