He promises that the first enemy will soon be known: “You will not believe what names we have found.”

The name of Mike Tyson (53) is on everyone’s lips these days. The heavyweight legend is planning a comeback and plans to fight the old rival Evander Holyfield (57) in the near future.

But there seem to be other candidates for an intermezzo with “Iron Mike”. “We have a lot of boys,” Tyson said in an interview with rapper Lil Wayne this week. «We call people, we are in the process of threading something. You will not believe what names we have found. The contract should be signed this week. »

WBC world champion Tyson Fury (31) is obviously one of the possible opponents. “I got a call and was asked if I wanted to fight Mike Tyson in an exhibition,” says the Briton to “BT Sport”. “My answer: ‘Hell yeah!’ But I think nothing has come of it yet.” However, he assumed that Tyson was very serious: “Definitely!”
–
The two have had a connection for over three decades anyway – after all, the Briton was once named after Tyson. Born too early, little Fury had to fight for survival in 1988 as a baby. This inspired John Fury, himself a fist fighter and a passionate boxing fan, to baptize his son after Mike Tyson, who then destroyed everything in the heavyweight division. “I thought there was only one name that suited him,” he once said. “He fought so hard to be able to live.”

It has also been known for longer that Mike Tyson keeps big pieces on Fury. In April 2018, when the 2.06 m giant set out to return after a long break and problems with alcohol, cocaine and depression, Iron Mike in Las Vegas said in a BLICK interview: “I like Tyson Fury, not just because of his first name. If he gets his head under control again, I’ll count on him. »

He was right. Fury is now considered the best heavyweight on the planet, the whole boxing world is looking forward to a union fight with WBA, WBO and IBF World Champion Anthony Joshua (30). Before that, however, a revenge fight against Deontay Wilder (USA, 1 win and 1 draw for Fury) is waiting for Fury. And maybe an exhibition against his namesake.
