The Salvadoran Boxing Federation (Fesalboxing) held a national exhibition this Saturday that included 21 fights in the following categories: children, youth, women and senior elites.
The 42 national boxers, from gyms and schools in San Miguel, Santa Ana, San Salvador, Santa Tecla, San Salvador, Ciudad Delgado and La Villa, met at the Villa CARI facilities to show their skills in the ring.
Mateo Alvarenga, a 14-year-old boxer from the Santa Ana gym, stood out in the fourth fight of the day against Zacarías Granados, corresponding to the children’s category.
“I have been practicing this sport for a year and a half. One day my mother enrolled me and I loved this discipline. I want to continue practicing boxing and one day represent El Salvador in other countries,” said Alvarenga.
Mateo assured that it is not the first time that he participates in a national event organized by Fesalboxing, so he commented that he adapts his training sessions to the commitments.
“I have participated in other tournaments, I always aim to win them. For this event I trained hard to be at 100. In competition I always try to give my best effort. This would be my second formal event, in the previous one I won the first place medal,” Alvarenga exclaimed.
Although there are no upcoming international tournaments on the agenda, the federation intends to keep its members active with these events so they do not lose pace. Furthermore, even though it was an exhibition event, the boxers left everything in each fight to show the fruits of each training in the ring.
