Box Office Disappointment: The Unfortunate Fate of Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken

You’d be forgiven if you haven’t heard of Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken, until now. It seems that, for whatever reason, DreamWorks isn’t too fond of promoting the family-friendly movie.

last weekend’sUS box officeOnline, it only grossed $5.2 million in its premiere. Despite rave reviews, Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken couldn’t find an audience, as even internationally it only grossed an additional $7.2 million. With a budget of $70 million, there’s still a long way to go to break even.

It’s the latest flop for a big-name animation studio this year, as previousPixar’s ElementalIt was also the studio’s lowest opening price.
