BOURGOGNE-FRANCHE-COMTÉ: INSEE will ask households about rents in 2021

424 households in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté will be drawn at random to take part in the national “rents and charges” survey, which measures changes in rents in the private sector.

Press release from the regional management of INSEE Bourgogne-Franche-Comté dated December 17, 2020:

Rents and Charges Survey

The national “rents and charges” survey makes it possible to measure the evolution of rents in the private sector, enters the calculation of inflation and makes it possible to make forecasts. This survey is quarterly. As rents are usually revised once a year, dwellings are surveyed for 5 consecutive quarters. The questioning of people is carried out face to face with an interviewer for the first and the last questioning and by telephone for the three intermediate questions.

The rent index, calculated using this survey, evaluates the variation in average rents per square meter. After monthly payment, it is integrated into the general consumer price index.

The survey also provides information on the functioning of the rental market, on changes in the rents of the rental housing stock according to various criteria, including the location or the size of the housing. It also allows the collection of information on tenants and their families, lease conditions, housing assistance and rental charges.

A housing sample is drawn at random to be surveyed each quarter. It brings together 424 households that will be interviewed during the year 2021 for Bourgogne Franche-Comté.

The households selected at random will receive a letter informing them of the survey. The INSEE investigator will then contact them in order to arrange a meeting. It has an official tricolor card and is subject to professional secrecy. Face-to-face surveys are carried out in accordance with the health protocol.

The data collected is strictly confidential. The responses are anonymous. They are used only by INSEE for statistical study purposes.
