Agreement between Anies Baswedan and Chairman of the Gerindra Party Prabowo Subianto is being widely discussed. IndoStrategi Research and Consulting Director Arif Nurul Imam sees the agreement as a dilemma for Anies.
For your information, the deputy chairman of the Gerindra Party Board of Trustees, Sandiaga Uno, revealed the agreement. He mentioned the agreement or agreement between Prabowo Subianto and Anies Baswedan regarding the presidential election (pilpres).
Sandiaga revealed this when he was a guest on Akbar Faisal’s YouTube account, as seen Sunday (29/1/2023). In the video, Akbar Faisal asks about the circulating video clip of Anies saying he will not run for the presidential election if Prabowo also runs as a presidential candidate.
This is what is called a dilemma for Anies. If Anies continues to advance in the 2024 presidential election, then the public will judge him as a broken promise.
“Regarding Prabowo Subianto, who is also running, of course there are already two presidential candidates who have supporting political parties. In the context of Anies and Prabowo, this certainly creates a dilemma for Anies because when he advanced for the DKI Jakarta regional election, he was supported by Gerindra. Apart from currently being busy talking about Anies’ agreement with Gerindra that Anies will not be Prabowo’s opponent,” Arif told reporters, Monday (30/1).
“This agreement has the potential to create public perception that Anies broke his promise to Prabowo,” he continued.
The agreement will also be an obstacle for Anies ethically. According to Arif, the public will judge Anies as an ambitious politician.
“The agreement is clearly an obstacle, at least ethically and in public perception. Ethically, Anies has broken his promise and public perception has the potential to accuse Anies of being an ambitious politician,” he said.
Arif assessed that Anies should have remembered about the agreement. Because, according to him, on various occasions Anies had said he would not make Prabowo his political opponent.
“Moreover, Anies on various occasions also said he would not fight Prabowo’s promoter. Anies should have remembered that,” he said.
