There was total chaos in Brynäs just before the puck was released in the fateful qualifier against HV71.
The management staff was forced out and the sports director Micke Sundlöv resigned.
The former NHL players Josef Boumedienne and Nils Ekman came in.
A choice that made many doubt.
Mainly due to “lack of leadership qualities” because they were untested in the SHL.
But Boumedienne silenced the doubters and saved Brynäs in the SHL after 4-1 in matches against HV71.

After the decision in Monitor ERP Arena, he chose to shout at those who questioned him.
– Many speculated in my leadership experience .., Boumedienne begins.
Then he continues:
– Have they done a background check? I do not think so. Did anyone call the Columbus Blue Jackets? Has anyone called the School of Business? Has anyone called Kärpät? Has anyone called Lidingö Hockey? Has anyone called Helsinki Capital Partners where I worked and sit on the board?
– I think no one has done their homework. Hockey is not that difficult, everyone who has played hockey for a long time can. And you can question my leadership, but you should not do it before doing research.
Did it feel frustrating?
– No, they are gifted people who invent something. To say something without doing a research is shitty intellect. But it does not bother me at all, I feel sorry for them.
