As part of cancer prevention and screening for women, the two multi-professional health centers (MSP) in the village offered, on Friday February 17, a free Women’s Health Day for women aged 25 to 74.
This day was organized by the Primary Health Insurance Fund (CPAM) of Gard, in partnership with the MSA, the League against Cancer 30, the Regional Cancer Screening Coordination Center Occitanie (CRCDC-OC), the Association diabetics (AFD 30) and e-occitanie health.
Professionals from the two multi-professional health centers (MSP) Madeleine-Brès and Terre de Béliers participated in this women’s health day with doctors Mariel Autard, Clémence Caron-Thomas, Hélène Vincent-Muller (midwife), Amandine Ricou (dietician ) as well as the Lafitte and Savajols pharmacies (Church pharmacy).
Screening tests and consultations
Fifty-eight women were welcomed during this prevention day. They took part in workshops which made it possible to understand the importance of carrying out regular screening. They had the opportunity to make an appointment for a mammogram, take a smear and were able to obtain a screening test for colorectal cancer. They also had the opportunity to consult a dietitian.
All the caregivers present recall the importance of screenings, a mammogram every two years (between 50 and 74 years old), a smear for cervical cancer screening (from 25 to 29 years old every three years and 30 to 65 every five years – even vaccinated) and colorectal cancer screening for women and men every two years (between 50 and 74).
“It was a great day of prevention and screening within the two Bouillargues MSPs in view of the interest shown by the participants. Some women were able to find their way back to screening with this action”concluded Amandine Ricou.
