Sørkilflå switches off the ignition on the day cruiser and lowers the canopy. The boat rocks almost imperceptibly on Snåsavatnet north of Trøndelag.

He turns and looks over to Klingøya, where some people are staggering over the rocks at the water’s edge. They wave when they see the boat.

– It is very nice here, says Sørkilflå.

He grew up in the area. From childhood, summer days with swimming and water skiing in Snåsavannet are remembered.

RENOVATION PROJECT: Erik Sørkilflå plans to refurbish the cabin and expand it with an extension.

– It was a bit of an impulse, and he the broker must have been the salesman of the century. Then it was a relatively short process, says Sørkilflå, who from 20 August rules over 13 measures in Snåsavatnet.

Holiday paradise

The island cost around three million kroner. Sørkilflå perceives this as a pleasant price for a large plot of land with a cabin. Several of the properties along the water have gone too far, he says. And for comparison, a 14 square meter dormitory recently went to Majorstuen for DKK 3.2 million.

– It’s very cheap, but that cabin is an object of renovation. It must not be done to the contrary, but not much has been done there in the last thirty years.

– What made you buy the island?

– Place. It’s very idyllic out there.

MAN FROM SNÅSA: Erik Sørkilflå moved back home eight years ago after many years in Trondheim.

Over the years, tall grass and in some places dense wild forest have grown.

– What we should have out there first as last is some animals. Goats and sheep that can graze a little.

In addition, they hope to expand the cabin and get a pier in place if the law permits.

– You must come again in five years. Then we should have arranged a holiday paradise out here.

ISLAND: There are several small islands in Lake Snåsavatnet.

Here you can get your own island

There are three siblings who are selling Klingøya, an old family property they have inherited together, write Steinkjer24.

At the time of writing, there are eight islands for sale in Norway. The suggested prices vary from one and a half million to 25 million.

– An island is unique. It is the first time in my ten years as a broker that I have sold an entire island, says Runar Wehn from Heimdal Eiendomsmegling. He is selling another island, in the lake Ånøya in Melhus.

The asking price on the island, which is called Monte Carlo, is four million. It is difficult to put a price tag on such a rare object for sale, he admits.

– There is not much to compare it with. You just have to try to air the market and check the response.

– Why do people want their own island?

– I think it is a special freedom. You are completely alone and without neighbors. This island has a form of climbing wall and swimming beach on the side of the island. You don’t get many chances like that.

SKJÆRGÅRD: Vasskjær outside Kristiansand is out with an asking price of NOK 16.9 million.

  • Spjutøya on the Helgeland coast (NOK 2,000,000)
  • Brokholmen on the Helgeland coast (NOK 1,500,000)
  • The peninsula in Selbu municipality (NOK 2,900,000)
  • Vasskjær outside Kristiansand (NOK 16,900,000)
  • Bjørnøy lighthouse (NOK 1,500,000)

  • Sandy weather on the Helgeland coast (NOK 2,800,000)
  • Little Røsholmen in the Kragerøs archipelago (NOK 25,000,000)

On the expensive shelf in the “Norwegian islands” category, Vasskjær is located in the archipelago just outside Kristiansand.

– I thought there would be more interest, to be honest. It is a completely unique, authentic property where you are completely to yourself. At the same time, you only have to cross the city fjord before you have city life, says broker Lasse Marcussen from Boligmegleren.

Hoping for Åge

The concrete plans are few, but the visions are big, for Sørkilflå and the children.

Sebastian and Lucas want to swing and slide into the water. The father points towards the mainland and a cabin that is right down to the water. He wants it that way too.

– It’s like a summer idyll with a flagpole and green grass. There are many nice cabins around the water here.

He points to another island, far away on the horizon. There have been a number of larger concerts there in the past.

NEARBY AREA: It is only a short boat trip from the pier to Klingøya.

Few are surprised when Sørkilflå tells them that they have bought an island. Because of that, they have bought far too many strange things, he says.

– But people say we must have a festival! It would have been fun.
