But Paul Magnette’s candidacy surprises me ”, Georges-Louis Bouchez says in the Walloon newspapers of Sud Presse. “Was he already thinking about this a year and a half ago? The MR has always supported Wilmès. I find it strange that, at the moment of an agreement, Magnette suddenly turns up as a candidate for the premiership. Sometimes I don’t understand that man. In 2018 he promises the Carolos that, if he becomes mayor of Charleroi, he will stay in Charleroi. But the following year he takes part in the European elections. After that he becomes president of the PS and there he wants to become prime minister. I think that, I’ll say it again, odd. I became chairman of the MR and I will remain so until 2024. I think it is desirable to negotiate without having a personal interest. ”

MR President Georges-Louis Bouchez already made it clear this weekend that he wants Sophie Wilmès to remain prime minister in the new Vivaldi government. Bouchez points to the balance in the government and the popularity of Wilmès in the south of the country. “She would remain prime minister in any other country in the world.
