Bouches-du-Rhône Prefecture Warns of Violent Winds with Gusts up to 120 km/h on Sunday, January 7

The Bouches-du-Rhône prefecture is warning of the risks linked to the violent wind expected this Sunday, January 7 in part of the department with gusts of up to 120 km/h at midday.

The Bouches-du-Rhône prefecture has placed the department on strong wind yellow alert for the day of this Sunday, January 7, from 10:00 a.m. According to Météo France, the Mistral which has been blowing since Saturday evening between 90 and 100 km/ h will strengthen on Sunday morning around 110-110 km/h in the western half of the department. Gusts could occasionally reach 120 km/h on an axis in the Salonnais region, Etang de Berre and the Côte Bleue, underlines the prefecture which posted the alert on the X network (former Twitter).

This Mistral will drop during the night from Sunday to Monday. The prefecture reminds you of the safety instructions to follow in the face of these weather conditions:

  • remain vigilant against falling rocks
  • limit your speed
  • store and secure objects outside
  • do not work on roofs
  • do not touch electrical wires that have fallen to the ground
  • be careful in the forest and on the coast
  • be vigilant when traveling
