A 21-year-old man was shot dead and another injured on Saturday evening after being targeted by car shooters in a working-class neighborhood of Martigues (Bouches-du-Rhône), we learned this Sunday from police sources.
Seriously injured in the abdomen, the man was found around 9:30 p.m. in a grocery store, near which the police discovered two grenades, which turned out to be demilitarized, said a police source.
The perpetrators fled
Treated by emergency services, the man, known for his criminal record, died in hospital. A second victim, suffering a gunshot wound to the hand, went to the hospital on his own.
The three shooters fled. A burning vehicle was discovered a few kilometers from the scene of the incident, the same source said. The investigation was handed over to the Organized and Specialized Crime Division (DCOS).
Near a deal point
The Notre-Dame des Marins district, where the shooting took place, is home to several large cities and, according to the daily Provencethe victim was near a deal point.
