Valtteri Bottas knew a very unhappy one Hungarian Grand Prix. The Finn did not roll away well at the start, braked and eliminated several drivers. Also Max Verstappen suffered significant damage due to Bottas’ error. On Twitter, the driver of Mercedes hear from you now.
Bottas made a mistake shortly after the start in Turn 1, tapped Lando Norris and it then hit Verstappen’s car. The Dutchman was able to continue his race, but drove a badly damaged car. Verstappen thus did not get further than tenth place. Again he saw a Mercedes compress his race, while they could take advantage of it themselves. However, Verstappen was not the only one who saw his race go up in smoke due to Bottas’ mistake. Bottas says on Twitter that he is disappointed with the situation, but is he happy that teammate Lewis Hamilton scored important points.

Bottas reacts to his mistake at the start
“Didn’t finish”, Bottas begins his message, referring to his own ‘result’. “It was my mistake today. I misjudged the braking for Turn 1 in these rainy conditions. This ended my race, and those of many others. I will learn from it and I will come back charged for second half of the season.”
After Bottas thought about his own mistake, he also wanted to congratulate a number of drivers, including teammate Hamilton, who took full advantage of the damage at Verstappen. Also race winner Esteban Ocon received a compliment from the 31-year-old Mercedes driver. “Congratulations to Ocon for winning the race!” Bottas wrote. “And good to see Hamilton fought his way back to the podium and took important points!”
