Bots have appeared in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds so that newcomers can kill at least someone

Studio PUBG Corporation recently released a PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds update at 7.1. Together with him, she introduced bots into the royal battle that help new players adapt to the shooter and … kill at least someone.

In the PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds blog, developers talked more about how artificial intelligence is programmed. So, when moving, bots are governed by navigation nets that permeate the battle royale maps. They help artificial intelligence not rush off a cliff and find the shortest path to the next destination.

To make the bots more like humans in the shootings, they had to use bullet physics. Thanks to this, players can evade shots by maneuvering, as in a battle with other users. Nevertheless, the trajectory of the bullets is still calculated by artificial intelligence, so the bots had to reduce accuracy depending on the distance to the target. As the developer added, all this was carefully balanced.

In terms of production, PUBG Corporation’s analysts and game designers conducted a lot of testing and collected data on how players behave on the map, and what and where items are selected at each stage of the match. So, the developers were able to set up production targets for bots. For example, in the early stages of a match, artificial intelligence will prefer to hold a submachine gun in their hands, and only then switch to a sniper rifle.

Faced with bots will be mostly newcomers. The higher your MMR level, the less likely you are to get into a match with artificial intelligence. In addition, in the coming months, PUBG Corporation plans to introduce machine learning into the game to improve it.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is now available on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
