It is strictly forbidden to use Botox or other cosmetic procedures to make the camels more attractive.
Using specialized technology, the authorities have this year revealed that several breeders had illegally stretched the lips and noses of the camels, used hormones to increase muscle mass, and injected the animals with Botox.
Camel farming is a large industry in the country, with a turnover of many millions of dollars a year. Camel competitions, which also include races and sales, aim to preserve the camel’s role in the kingdom’s Bedouin tradition.
