Boto’s ‘Closed Bar’ series opens at the Teatro España

Tonight, at 9 pm at the Teatro España, the series Closed Bar, by José Boto, will be presented. A montage of the first three chapters of the series intended for those who have worked and collaborated on the project, and thus “receive feedback from the public about the work we have done”, as the director of the series commented.

During the morning of yesterday Boto attended to Periódico de Ibiza from Palma de Mallorca, in full negotiation with different televisions to capture their interest. «We have four of the nine chapters already finished. Now we need to get the usual (money) to finish the first season, “commented the actor and director of the series. Boto also advanced future meetings with a platform, “the project is getting big,” he expressed optimistically, while anticipating that today’s session at the Teatro España will be “a montage of the first chapters that we have finished.”

Ibiza team

For his part, the person in charge of audiovisual direction, photography and editing, Felix Fernández de Tejada, was “satisfied” with the result of the first chapters that have already been completed. “The series has a neat appearance, worthy of being seen on any channel or platform” defends Fernández de Tejada, who never ceases to remind the team that has made the series possible: “A small but competent team that has known how to cover all aspects with the minimum. It is a team made up of no more than a dozen people, “99% from Ibiza, if we take into account that one of the actors is from abroad,” assures Fernández de Tejada, referring to the well-known comedian and monologist Santi Rodríguez, who He plays the role of father of the protagonist.

Movie industry

In this sense, the person in charge of the edition, photography and audiovisual direction, also wanted to vindicate the film industry in Ibiza as “one more industry that can make its way in Ibiza independently of tourism”, qualifying the island of Ibiza as a “set natural “in which” many things are already done. ” Fernández wanted to value the support received from city councils and the Consell, as well as the collaboration of different private entities that have made it possible for the project to have reached this point.

The filming of the series began on May 3 and among the cast is Boto himself as the protagonist, accompanied by Bárbara Hermosilla, Miriam Navarro, Gabriel Gambacorta, Laura Moreno or Marcelo Zaquieri among others.

The plot of the series revolves around the character played by Boto, José, a man who, at 40, lives with his parents in Madrid and decides to go to Ibiza to find his life after the arrival of the pandemic. The axis of the story takes place in the bar that gives its name to the series, Closed Bar, and which is inspired and shot in the La Kokotxa bar. In fact, the same owner of the bar, Ruy Montero, plays himself in the series.
