Both are Targets, Here’s a Comparison of Moderna, Pfizer, Janssen Vaccines

Jakarta

United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reveal comparison modern vaccines, Pfizer vaccine, and vaksin Johnson & Johnson related to antibody resistance after full-dose vaccination.

Involving more than 3,600 adults, the study found the Moderna vaccine was 93 percent effective at preventing people with HIV COVID-19 had symptoms and had to be hospitalized.

Meanwhile, research results show Pfizer and J&J vaccines are 88 percent and 71 percent, respectively, effective in preventing severe symptoms of COVID-19.

In the study, the CDC included 3,600 adults who had COVID-19 and were hospitalized between March 11 and August 15, 2021.

“Among adults without immunocompromised conditions, the vaccine’s effectiveness against possible COVID-19 hospitalizations during March 11 to August 15, 2021 was higher for the Moderna vaccine (93 percent) than the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine (88 percent) and Janssen vaccine (71 percent). percent),” the team explained in the CDC’s weekly report on mortality and disease.

In addition, they found that the biggest difference between the vaccine made by Moderna and the Pfizer/BioNtech vaccine was driven by a decrease in antibodies that began about four months after people were fully vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine.

“The difference in effectiveness between the Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines may be due to the higher mRNA content in the modern vaccines, time differences between doses (3 weeks for Pfizer/BioNTech versus 4 weeks for Moderna), or possible differences between groups receiving each vaccine were not taken into account in the analysis,” the team’s report added.

Their Pfizer and Moderna vaccines both use genetic material called messenger RNA (mRNA) to provide immunity to the body, but they both use slightly different dosages and formulations.

The J&J vaccine uses an inactivated common cold virus called an adenovirus (virus vector) to deliver genetic instructions into the body.

“A single dose of Janssen virus vector vaccine has a relatively lower anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibody response and vaccine effectiveness against COVID-19 hospitalizations,” the team said.
