Olympic Lyon is the left row of the League 1 and has given rival Saint-Étienne an extra push towards Ligue 2. The team of trainer Peter Bosz booked a narrow victory on Friday evening, thanks to a used penalty from Moussa Dembélé.
The striker forced the penalty himself after fifteen minutes of play, after a foul by captain Timothée Kolodziejczak. Dembélé applied himself and sent goalkeeper Paul Bernardoni into the wrong corner: 1-0.
With the exception of a single chance for the guests – Mahdi Camara tested goalkeeper Anthony Lopes – Lyon remained dominant. L’OL did not manage to build up its score, but Bosz and his friends could still breathe a sigh of relief after the final whistle.
Lyon now comes to 31 points, the same as number nine Montpellier. The infamous Saint-Étienne, ten-time French national champion, remains at the bottom with twelve points.
