BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Boston University women’s soccer midfielder Natalie Godoy has been selected as the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 23, the conference announced on Monday afternoon.
Godoy receives her first-career weekly award as a Terrier. She is the fifth-different Terrier to garner a Patriot League weekly award in 2023, and the second to be selected as the top offensive player. Teammate Abigail McNulty has won the honor twice, coming on Oct. 2 and Oct. 9.
The sophomore led BU’s offense in the 4-0 win over American on Saturday (Oct. 21), scoring two goals. She broke the ice in the 10th minute on passes from Lily Matthews and Kayla Ross, then found the back of the net in transition thanks to McNulty and Hugrún Helgadóttir in the 83rd minute to extend BU’s lead to three.
With her first-career collegiate brace, Godoy is now tied for the team lead with six goals, which is tied for third in the Patriot League. Her 14 points are second-highest on BU only to classmate Giulianna Gianino, and sixth in the league. The Terriers are 4-0-1 this year when Godoy scores a goal.
Gianino, for tallying a goal against the Eagles, was named a Patriot League honorable mention as well. Gianino sports a team-high 15 points, good for fifth in the conference.
BU, which has clinched a top-five seed in the Patriot League Tournament, closes the regular season at Army West Point on Wednesday (Oct. 25). Opening kick is set for 6 p.m.
