Doctor Arthur Caplan joins the hospital. The doctor is chief of medical ethics at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. He told CBS News that with every organ transplant, a patient’s immune system is nearly deactivated and even a cold can be fatal.
“Organs are scarce. We’re not going to hand them out to someone who has a poor chance of living when others who have been vaccinated, after surgery, have a better chance of survival,” Dr. Caplan said.
