Boston Ballet stands by plaintiff
US ballerina is accused of abuse
–
For a long time, the dancer Dusty Button was the star of the Boston Ballet Ensemble – now dancers are raising serious allegations against the US star: She and her husband are said to have “exploited their influence in the dance world” to sexually abuse young schoolgirls. The couple deny the allegations.
Several dancers accuse prominent US ballerina Dusty Button and her husband Mitchell Taylor Button of sexual abuse. This emerges from a now expanded lawsuit against the couple, as reported by the US broadcaster CNN. According to the lawsuit, dance teacher Taylor Button is said to have “exploited his position of power and influence in the dance world to sexually abuse young dancers across the country.” In other cases, Dusty Buttons is also named as a name.
The ballerina danced with the Boston Ballet from 2012 to 2017, according to CNN. By sharing her workshops and dances on social media, she has built a huge Instagram following. In the summer, two women filed a lawsuit, each naming Dusty’s husband as the accused. A woman reports that he abused her as a 13-year-old dance student during a film screening and sent her clear photos and requested them from her, as CNN writes.
There are now five women who are suing the couple and the allegations are also directed against the dancer. Dusty is said to have held one of the alleged victims while her husband raped her. The couple is said to have fooled the women into promoting their careers. The buttons reject all allegations. “We look forward to clearing both of your names in court,” her attorney Marc John Randazza told CNN. And: “Our point of view remains the same.” A judge has already rejected his application to dismiss the lawsuit because of the statute of limitations, according to the broadcaster.
The Boston Ballet did not want to comment on the allegations, but said, according to the broadcaster, that it supported one of the plaintiffs. It is brave for them to share their experiences with the public in order to protect others and demand justice, according to the dance ensemble.
