Here we are talking about a trade Ben Simmons. So far, we were more on daily news about the Australian’s refusal to collaborate with the Sixers staff regarding his mental health, much less on the prospect of seeing him play basketball elsewhere. According to The Athletic, the Boston Celtics and their Philadelphia counterparts have been in talks for a few days regarding a deal.
Be careful, there is absolutely nothing done and it is not sure that it will lead to anything. According to Shams Charania, Daryl Morey will not consider any transaction if it does not include Jaylen Brown. Although there has been internal turmoil in Boston in recent days, with Marcus Smart publicly criticizing the individualism of Brown and Jayson Tatum, it is hard to imagine Brad Stevens, the boss of the franchise, letting go of one of his two young stars.
Yet in theory, the Celtics would need a player with Simmons’ profile – at least in his best light – more than a second scorer like Jaylen Brown, however strong he is. The latter is running at 25.6 points and is already on the highest footing of his career after becoming an All-Star last season.

For now, and despite the somewhat sluggish departure of the C’s, we will consider that all this is only traditional conversation between GMs, where one (Brad Stevens) is just trying to see if the other ( Daryl Morey) would not have suddenly wanted to lower his claims.
For now, Philadelphia is surviving the Ben Simmons episode well, as the Sixers lead the Eastern Conference with 8 wins and 2 losses. Boston is in 11th place with 4 wins for 6 losses.
