We knew that Juancho Hernangomez would not wear the Grizzlies jersey, and ESPN confirms it since the Spanish winger is packing his bags, heading for Boston!
Very active this summer, the Celtics separate from Kris Dunn, who arrived from the Hawks in August, but also from Carsen Edwards. Also included in the exchange is a draft second-round swap in 2026.
ESPN says the trade won’t go through until September 15, when Kris Dunn and Carsen Edwards’ contracts can be transferred together. Before the start of the season, the Grizzlies will still have to do a little cleaning since they have 18 players with guaranteed contracts in their squad …
For Boston, it was a question of slimming down on position 1 by separating from Kris Dunn since Dennis Schroder had just been signed, and the Schroder-Smart-Pritchard trio was sufficient for this position. On the Memphis side, Ja Morant was just missing an understudy after the transfers of Pat Beverley and Rajon Rondo. Like the two former Clippers, Juancho Hernangomez will not even have put his bags in Memphis, and he appears as the only real strong-winger on the Boston side, alongside many pivots: Al Horford, Enes Kanter and Robert Williams.
As for Carsen Edwards, he will try to bounce back in Memphis where he will be helmed by Tyus Jones and… Kris Dunn on post 1, and by Desmond Bane and De’Anthony Melton on post 2.
